Weekend surf report

The swell is small today, barely a metre, but it’s looking promising for the weekend.

The forecast is for south-west to southerly winds through until Monday, so all we need now is a bit more swell.

The beach breaks from Evans Head north to Lennox should produce waves over the weekend, although it’s unlikely it will be like last weekend, with the surfing gods really turning it on for the ICON All Girls Showdown.

You can check out results and photos on the All Girls’ website.

Now we can look forward to the other major junior surfing event, the Rusty Gromfest, to be held at Lennox Head from July 6-10.

Meanwhile, surfers and others got a real whale of a show at Flat Rock this morning. We were lucky enough to spot two humpbacks not more than 50m from the eastern-most point of the rock. It was a great sight.

Our picture this week: I don’t know who this bloke is, but he was having fun at one of the local left-hand breaks a couple of weekends back.
