Autographed print up for auction at Men of League fund-raiser
Would you like an autographed print of NRL/Sydney grand final winning captains such as the legendary Norm Provan and John Sattler?
If so, get along to the Men of League fund-raising night at Ballina Bowling and Recreation Club on Saturday night, when one of the auction items includes a limited-edition autrographed print of six grand final-winning captains — St George’s Norm Provan, Souths’ John Sattler, St George’s Ken Kearney, Canberra’s Mal Meninga, Parramatta’s Steve Edge and Brisbane’s Allan Langer.
Provan, who played in 10 premiership-winning St George teams, has been immortalised, along with Wests’ Arthur Summons, in the National Rugby League trophy recreation of John O’Grady’s famous photograph of the two muddied players embracing after a match.
The Men of League fund-raiser is being held as part of a Men of League bowls weekend which is raising money for the Ballina Shire Healthy Community Futures Fund.
Guest speaker will be former NSW Premier John Fahey, who is patron of the Men of League.
Tickets to the dinner cost $60, which includes a three-course meal and beverages. The dinners starts at 6.30pm for 7pm. Tickets are available from the Ballina Bowling and Recreation Club.
The Healthy Futures Fund has already raised its target of $150,000 to buy specialised X-ray equipment for Ballina Hospital, so money raised on Saturday night will be used to other hospital equipment.
