Police issue warning on anti-social behaviour in Lennox Head

Following a night of anti-social behaviour, offensive conduct, assaults, juveniles possessing and consuming alcohol and move-on directions issued by police in Lennox Head on Saturday, police from Ballina are sending out a strong warning to residents.

Five police vehicles from Ballina and surrounding areas were summonsed to Lennox Head on Saturday night around 11.30pm into the early hours of Sunday morning due to numerous complaints from the public regarding anti-social behaviour and intoxicated young persons.

Ballina Duty Officer Inspector Dave Larkin said: “The type of behaviour displayed on Saturday night will not be tolerated. Residents are reminded any type of anti-social or illegal activity will be dealt with within the confines of the law. If you flout the law, you can expect to be dealt with by legal process including arrest.”

Police dealt with many intoxicated youth committing licensing offences as well as those using offensive behaviour and language, as well as issuing numerous move-on directions. Several were taken home due to their high level of intoxication and risk of injury or their being assaulted or robbed.

Inspector Larkin said: “Police will increase patrols in these areas and take the appropriate action to reduce and remove this type of behaviour, and are seeking the assistance from parents in our efforts to reduce this behaviour.”
