Windy conditions today did not stop about 100 ladies from enjoying the 25th birthday celebration for the Ballina RSL Ladies Bowling Club.

Seventy-five women took to the greens, while another 25 were on hand to take part in the celebrations.

RSL Ladies Bowling Club president Val Farrell said almost all of the Northern Rivers District Women’s Bowling Association clubs were present for the one-day event.

NRDWBA president Fran Olley was a special guest.

The club was formed in 1982 at the Ballina RSL Club in River Street.

The bowling club premises in River Street closed in March 1986 and the new RSL Bowling Club in Canal Road was officially opened in September 1986.

One of the early presidents of the club, Una Kearney, received a life membership at the celebration luncheon.
