Lennox mums’ novel business idea
The option of a freezer-full of fresh homemade sandwiches is now just a phone call away with the opening in Lennox Head last month of ‘Pack ‘n Dash’.
‘Pack n Dash’ offers customer’s budget priced, healthy frozen sandwiches in a range of fillings, which will sustain hungry tummies throughout the afternoon.
The business is the brainchild of local mums Kirsty O’Maley and Heather Walker, pictured, and ironically arose from their dislike of making school lunches every morning.
“I have three boys and a husband, and found making lunches for them every morning a real chore, so instead I would make a weeks worth of sandwiches at the one time, and simply freeze them. This made mornings a lot easier for all of us,” said Kirsty O’Maley.
While anyone can enjoy a Pack ‘n Dash sandwich, the business is particularly geared towards families with school aged children, and busy working people.
“Our aim is to provide economically priced, wholesome sandwiches, and save our customers the stress and mess of sandwich making each morning. When you use Pack ‘n Dash, simply grab a sandwich, a piece of fruit and drink, and lunch is done,” Heather said.
The individually wrapped sandwiches are made using preservative-free fresh bread, and are delivered at no charge to the customer’s home.
‘Pack ‘n Dash’ uses fresh local ingredients, with fillings ranging from vegemite to smoked salmon with avocado and cream cheese. If a filling can be frozen, then it can be used in a Pack ‘n Dash sandwich.
One order comprises nine sandwiches, and people can order from four price lines: Standard ($10 per loaf - $1.11 per sandwich); Simple ($15 per loaf / $1.67 per sandwich); Super ($20 per loaf / $2.22 per sandwich); and Sensational ($25 per loaf / $2.78 per sandwich).
