Ballina celebrates 85 years of Scouting
It’s a big weekend for the Scouting movement this weekend, with 1st Ballina Scout Group celebrating 85 years of Scouting in Ballina this year.
The group will be holding celebrations at the hall in Canal Road, Ballina, on Sunday, July 22, from 10am until 2pm.
All current Leaders, Joeys, Cubs and Scouts will be attending on the day along with past Leaders and Scouts.
Scouts will set up Patrol Tents like an actual campsite complete with flag pole and have their canoes out for display. They will also erect a suspension bridge, have a milk crate stack challenge and many more activities.
Inside the hall there will be a display of past and present photos along with a DVD showing photos from various camps.
There will be a barbecue lunch (gold coin donations).
The group lost a lot of old photos and records in the fire which destroyed the hall in 2004, so unfortunately they do not have any records of past leaders. If you do know of a past leader, Cub or Scout please let them know about the celebration day and encourage them to come along.
