Cochrane bags six tries in Ballina’s easy win

Ballina Seagulls centre Brenton Cochrane scored six tries in his team’s 76-10 thrashing of Grafton Ghosts in Retravision Northern League at Kingsford Smith Park, Ballina, today.

For good measure, he also converted one of them to finish with 26 points for the match.

It was a convincing win for the Seagulls against a hapless Ghosts. Ballina led 46-0 at half-time.

The Ghosts showed renewed fight after the break to score a couple of tries, but they were outclassed by the competition leaders.

The win may have come at a cost for Ballina, with captain Grant Clements leaving the field early in the match with a shoulder injury. His replacement, Mick Foster, also was taken from the field soon after with a leg injury.

With a big match against Marist Brothers next weekend in Lismore, the Seagulls will be hoping that Clements’ injury is not serious.
