Xavier College set to rock
Xavier Catholic College Ballina will be rocking on Monday, July 30, when it hosts a Rock the Schools Tour 07 concert.
Organisers say the tour brings live music to schools in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of music education.
“Beginning with an electrifying lunch time rock concert by up-and-coming band The Skybombers, the tour provides a full education in rock ‘n’ roll through a series of workshops hosted by music industry insiders,” they said.
“To date the tour has been to more than 30 schools across the country and the feedback from teachers has been that it is truly inspirational – encouraging students to get involved in their school music initiatives.”
The concert starts at 12.30.
Rock on Australia!, Boost Mobile and Motorola are backing the tour.
“The Rock the Schools Tour is an amazing opportunity for students to meet a band that they have heard on the radio and ask them questions about their music and what it’s like to be in the music business,” said Kelli Wright, tour manager for Rock the Schools.
“The students involved in the workshop leave with a whole new appreciation of the work, education and study needed to have a successful career in the music industry.”

Students can apply for a scholarship worth $13,000 towards a Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) at one of the SAE Institute’s seven campuses by submitting a 150-word essay detailing why they want to work in the music industry and what they think they will getout of completing the SAE Diploma of Music Industry.
