Weekend surf report

Today there’s a small swell of about three feet, and any significant increase is unlikely over the weekend.

South-west to south-east winds are forecast for Saturday and Sunday, so make an early start and head to your favourite beach break.

Meanwhile, Australasia’s best 20 year and under surfers cut loose in the clean high-performance waves at North Narrabeen today for rounds one and two of the Dakine Pro Junior presented by Smith Optics.

Lennox Head surfer Stuart Kennedy claimed round one’s biggest scoring and most impressive win. With two high 7-point rides in his winning score of 15.40 (out of a possible 20), Kennedy’s smooth flowing fast and precise style was ideally suited to these waves and he’ll go into the remainder of the event confident of a big result here.

After today’s win Kennedy said: “That’s how I’d like to start all events. The waves were really good fun and there were plenty of them to choose from. Even though they aren’t big waves, they are well shaped on the Narrabeen sandbank and you can really perform on these waves so I’m keen to go a lot further here.”
