Wartime service to be commemorated
Wartime service will be remembered in Ballina on Saturday when the Ballina RSL Sub-Branch holds a Service of Commemoration from 4.45pm at Ballina RSL Memorial Park.
The service will remember Victory in the Pacific, Vietnam Veterans and Ex-Prisoners of War.
The sub-branch says this year is the 62nd anniversary of Victory in the Pacific, and the 41st anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in the Vietnam conflict.
“August 18 is the day to remember all of our Vietnam Veterans,” the sub-branch said.
The keynote address will be jointly delivered by three students from Xavier Catholic College.
