Teven-Tintenbar school prepares for Country Fair
PICTURE: Year Two students, from left, Andrew Dorey, Kelly Erskine, Angus Swanson and Finn Sharpe proudly display their crazy spider creations in preparation for the Teven-Tintenbar Public School’s Country Fair.
There will be something for everyone to see and do at Teven-Tintenbar Public School’s Country Fair, to be held on Saturday 15 September in the school grounds from 9am-3pm.
“This year we have pulled out all the stops to make this event our best ever, with a huge variety of fresh local produce, great food, creative crafts, fun-filled activities for the kids, and lots of live entertainment,” said school P&C President Debbie Buhl.
“This is our Country Fair’s 13th year, and we are hoping to raise over $13,000 from our efforts. All proceeds from the day will be ploughed directly back into the school.”
For the kids, there are pony rides, a jumping castle, merry-go-round, baby animal farm, face painting, puppet theatre, golf, plaster hospital, a magician, plaster moulds, nail painting and hair braiding, show bags, plus lots of fun competitions and activities.
Visitors to the Fair will have the opportunity to purchase a range of wholesome local produce, including a mega cake stall and the always popular plant stall.
Free entertainment will run throughout the day including local band The Rejuvenators.
Bargain hunters will love the bric-a-brac and pre-loved clothes stall and toys stall, and there will be an abundance of second-hand books and craft for sale.
There will be lots of great raffles and competitions including the famous moo poo lotto, lucky plate, guessing competitions, lob the loo paper, and much more.
“Come for morning tea or lunch, there will be a variety of food stalls to tantalise the taste buds, sample a great locally grown and prepared coffee in the shade of our beautiful school grounds and enjoy the free entertainment,” Ms Buhl said.
“For the first time this year, we are introducing ‘Kiss the Pig’. Will it be the principal, the teacher, the groundsman, the P&C President or one of the office ladies that will kiss the pig or should I say, the pig will kiss? Who will raise the most money and then literally, and very publicly, kiss a pig, or is it the one who raises the least amount of money that has to kiss the pig? Whatever, the pig will be kissed!”
“School parents, teachers and students have been working extremely hard to put the final touches on what promises to be a great day. No matter what your interests or your age, I guarantee we will have something for everyone. Come along, stay a while — you’ll be glad you stopped by.”
Teven-Tintenbar Public School is located in Fredericks Lane, Tintenbar.
