Meeting hopes to fast-track cancer unit construction
A meeting in Ballina on Thursday night (August 30) will discuss ways to fast-track the building of a cancer/radiotherapy unit in Lismore.
Meeting organisers say the unit was promised for 2004 but this has been put back to 2011.
“This is not acceptable,” they said.
Guest speakers at the meeting will include Lismore Base Hospital medical officers, Member for Ballina Don Page, Ballina Mayor Phillip Silver, CWA president Joan Roots, The Cancer Council’s Diana Fisher and Northern Star reporter Alex Easton.
The meeting will begin at 7pm and will be held in the Richmond Room, behind the library.
