Ballina to celebrate NSW Bike Week

Ballina Shire Council, the RTA and the local cycling community will host a series of bike rides on Sunday, September 30, to mark NSW Bike Week.

Pop Denison Park near Shaws Bay will be the central point for the day’s activities, which will include a 20km leisurely ride around town from 8.30am.

There also will be a 15km ride around town from 8.45am, a short ride for families with young children from 9am, and a 10km ride around town from 9.15am.

There will be bicycle maintenance demonstrations from 9am.

The fun events kick in from 10.30am, with competitions for best decorated bike, oldest bike, cleanest bike and smallest rideable bike. There also will be a mini bike skills course.

Ballina SES will be on hand to provide the sustenance and will fire up the barbecue.

Given Ballina’s outstanding system of cycleways, the event is sure to attract plenty of riders.
