Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report

NSW Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report …

The sea is settling and it looks like boats will get offshore over the weekend.

Some nice bream off the Richmond River walls with the odd small squire when it was rough.

A few flathead in the lower reaches with the size generally increasing.

Blackfish still plentiful although the bag limits of a few weeks ago are down to tens and dozens. Best spots along the Town Reach, the Big Gap, the Porpoise Wall and the rock wall behind Woolies.

Some nice bream and the odd school jew to around 8kg on plastics.

The odd good whiting but the numbers aren’t thick. Lower reaches are the go for most fish but there’s a bit of colour further up and it should start to fish well before long.

Not a lot of tailor off the walls and beaches but there are still a few around. A shedload of salmon over at South Beach.

I haven’t been at Evans Head all week so anything I told you would be utter fabrication!
