It’s OK to ditch hubby — but only for a night
Women in the Ballina Shire region are being asked to ditch their husbands and boyfriends in October — but only for one night.
The Cancer Council is giving local women a meaningful reason to ditch the boys and get together with the girls, with the Ballina Shire community once again uniting to support this year’s Girls Night In.
“Around 260 women in our region are diagnosed with breast or a gynaecological cancer each year. And with 60 dying from these cancers, we need the women of the Far North Coast to get together now to keep the girls together later,” said Carolyn Forbes, Community Relations Co-ordinator for the Cancer Council’s Far North Coast regional office.
“The idea of Girls Night In is simple – just invite your friends over and donate the money you might have spent on a night out, to help women fight cancer.
“Girls Night In will raise money for research and support into women’s cancers such as breast, cervical, ovarian, and uterine cancer. Through Girls Night In, we hope to give women in towns like Ballina the best possible chance of survival.
“Last year residents from the Far North Coast raised over $31,500 which was fantastic! This year we’re aiming to raise even more to go towards women’s cancers.
“Celebrate your friends and loved ones by hosting a Girls Night In this October. Just call 1300 65 65 85 or visit www.girlsnightin.com.au and we’ll send you out a host kit.”
