Police seek witnesses to Wardell truck crash
Police are seeking witnesses to a serious motor vehicle incident at Wardell, 10km south of Ballina, early this morning.
At 3.40am police were called to a location on the Pacific Highway, after receiving reports of the incident.
It’s believed a pantec rigid truck travelling north along the Pacific Highway allegedly crossed on to the wrong side of the road, side-swiping a B-double truck travelling south.
It’s believed the driver of the B-double subsequently lost control and swerved off the roadway and into the Richmond River.
Police from Richmond Local Area Command are at the scene conducting investigations.
The 46-year-old, Queensland male driver of the B-double, managed to free himself from the vehicle, suffering minor injuries. He was taken to Ballina Hospital for observation.
The 26-year-old Queensland male driver of the pantec rigid sustained leg injuries and was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
Police are urging caution for anyone travelling on the Pacific Highway tomorrow. Passengers may experience extensive delays due to the salvage operation.
All traffic diversions for tomorrow will be advised by the RTA and can be viewed via the website at www.rta.nsw.gov.au, or via the traffic information line on 132-701.
