Daily beach report
Northern NSW Lifeguard Co-ordinator Stephen Leahy’s daily beach report for Friday, October 5:
Surf conditions picked up this afternoon and became quite dangerous. Here’s what happened on lifeguard patrolled beaches in Ballina Shire today:
Lennox Head: Lifeguard Anthony had a busy shift with more than 2000 people on the beach throughout the day. More than 75 swimmers were warned about swimming in dangerous rips, outside the flags, and two body-boarders required rescuing.
Shelly Beach, Ballina: Despite good crowds on the beach, Lifeguard Ruben reported no rescues and only a small group of swimmers was warned about straying outside the flags.
Tomorrow’s Forecast: We’re going to see a very warm day on the beach with some moderate winds which will increase in strength later in the afternoon. This is likely to make conditions a bit treacherous, so caution is advised.
