Weekend surf report
Constant northerly winds have flattened out the seas and today there were early-morning beach breaks at most local beaches before the wind got up.
A southerly change is forecast for later today, so hopefully it will bring an increase in swell.
Here’s a marine weather forecast, courtesy of Northern Lifeguard co-ordinator Steve Leahy: N/NW 10/15 knots inshore, 15/20 knots offshore, increasing to 20/25 knots in the afternoon ahead of a S/SW 25/33 knots change in the evening. Sea: 1.5/2 metres, rising to 2/3 metres late evening. Swell: E/NE 1 metre. Isolated thunderstorms.
