Daily beach report
North Coast Lifeguard Co-ordinator Stephen Leahy’s daily beach report:
Lots of sun and warm temperatures but howling winds kept most people away from the beaches today. Here’s what happened on lifeguard patrolled beaches today:
Lennox Head: Five preventative actions was all Lifeguard Anthony has to contend with. Kite surfers took advantage of the windy conditions.
Shelly Beach, Ballina: Very quiet day with only a small group of people at Shelly today. There were no incidents to report.
Other incidents: Lifeguards undertook roving patrols of Byron Main Beach, The Pass and Watagos Beach during the day. Very few people ventured into the water due to the windy and very choppy conditions. There were no further shark sightings today.
Tomorrow’s Forecast: It will be a milder day tomorrow. Mainly cloudy with an isolated shower or two. A fresh south to south-east change around dawn.
Today’s Water Safety Tip: Stick your hand up for help — if you get into trouble in the water, stay calm, raise your arm to signal for help. Float with a current or rip - don’t try and swim against it.
