Page critical of NSW’s attitude to train services

Ballina MP and Shadow Minister for the North Coast, Don Page, says the expenditure of $10million on consultants to tell the NSW Government what Cityrail customers think of Cityrail services ’shows the utter contempt this Labor State Government has for North Coast rail services’.

“The NSW Labor Government is happy to spend $10 million on consultants to get consumer and staff feedback whilst we on the North Coast suffer from no train services at all on the Casino to Murwillumbah line,” he said.

“This latest announcement in Parliament today demonstrates once again the Sydney-centric nature of this NSW Labor Government.

“The Government’s own report about getting services back on the Casino to Murwillumbah line says $22 million is needed to make the line safe for trains to run, but the Government won’t find this money. However, they can find $10 million to waste on what is effectively an expensive consumer survey by overseas consultants.

“It’s scandalous, but typical of this NSW Labor Government.”
