NSW Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report
Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop reports the best shakers and movers this week have been the have been the whiting in North Creek, the lower river and starting to appear around Pimlico Island. Take up some bloodworms on the big tides this weekend and you should do well.
A few flathead in the lower reaches with a lot on soft plastics. A run of small school jew around Wardell bridge in the early evenings.
Beaches have been producing some decent whiting, with some good bream along with the usual dart and salmon.
The wider reefs should have snapper and pearl perch if the conditions allow a trip offshore.
Murky and cool inshore water at Evans Head, although there have been some reasonable catches of bream, flathead and whiting up Airforce and Broadwater beaches if the salmon don’t bother you. Mainly salmon around the rocks.
The river has bream and flathead, with better whiting upstream. Not many reports from offshore with the onshore slop keeping most at home.
