Ballina is in mourning following the sudden death of the ‘Pelican Man’, Australian Seabird Rescue founder Lance Ferris.
Lance, aged 60, died on Saturday night after suffering a stroke.

Constant northerly winds have flattened out the seas and today there were early-morning beach breaks at most local beaches before the wind got up.
A southerly change is forecast for later today, so hopefully it will bring an increase in swell.

Chris Hendry finishes second in 100m in China

Ballina athlete Chris Hendry has finished second in his 100m sprint event at the Special Olympics in China.
Chris, 27, clocked 13.13. He was beaten by a United Arab Emirates runner who clocked 13.06.
Third was a Pakistani runner who clocked 13.46.
Chris also was scheduled for compete in the 200m and 4×100m relay.
