NSW Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report
Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says there’s been a pretty fair run of whiting on the bigger tides over the full moon with near bag limits around Pimlico Island and in the lower reaches. Yabbies are working at night and bloodworms during the day.
Some nice flathead knocking about on soft plastics with fish to 6.5kg regular.
A few school jew around the Wardell bridge in the evenings. A sprinkling of sand crabs in the lower river and muddies well upstream and well up the creeks.
Beaches have been fishing pretty well for whiting, flathead and dart as well as the ever-persistent salmon. South Beach continues to be the outstanding performer.
Been a bit windy outside but the wider reefs should fish well when conditions allow.
Airforce and Broadwater beaches at Evans Head have been reasonably good for bream, whiting, flathead, dart and a few salmon. Not much in the way of tailor anywhere and only the odd school jew from the beaches and headlands.
The river has a few flathead and the odd whiting with blackfish coming and going around the walls. I haven’t heard too much from outside with only a handful of boats venturing out.
