Finally, it’s Cup time
It’s been a while coming, but the Ballina Cup will be hosted by the Ballina Jockey Club next Thursday, November 15.
The Cup originally was scheduled for August but the equine influenza outbreak forced its postponement.
And the good news for racegoers is that the half-day holiday has been rescheduled to next Thursday.
There’ll be plenty of action on the track, despite the EI-enforced restrictions on horse movement, and there will be just as much action off the track.
A highlight will be the Fashions on the Field, sponsored by Harvey World Travel, offering return flights for two to Sydney, two nights accommodation at Star City Casino, and a gourmet wine tour.
The runner-up will receive a $100 voucher courtesy of Le Chelle Boutique.
The blokes haven’t been forgotten, with the best dressed man winning a $150 voucher from Don Munro’s Triple X Aquatic Clothing Company.
Williams The Shoemen will sponsor $50 vouchers for the men’s and women’s runners-up.
The best dressed couple will win a $100 voucher from Izabelle’s Bistro at Evans Head.
A lucky racebook prize is two $100 dinner vouchers from the Bellowing Bull Restaurant at Wollongbar.
On the track, the highlights are the Carlton Draught Ballina Cup and the Ballina Bowling and Recreation Club Newmarket Handicap.
Gates open at 11am. Remember to leave the car at home if you intend to have a drink.
