Daily beach report
North Coast lifeguard co-ordinator Stephen Leahy’s daily beach report:
Due to strong southerly winds off northern NSW, there are dangerous conditions along the Far North Coast of NSW. Waves are around 1m to 1.5m and very choppy. There are strong sweeping currents and many powerful, fast-moving rips along beaches.
Australian Lifeguard Services advises that people should:
Leave the water immediately;
Follow any directions issued by lifeguards;
Obey any signage that has been displayed;
Keep small children and pets away from the edge of the water;
Avoid entering the water until it is deemed safe to do so;
Stay away from rock ledges and shelves; and
Avoid near-shore boating, fishing or rock-fishing.
Maximum waves may be more than twice the height forecast.
This warning shall remain in place until it is cancelled and a Cancellation Advisory Notice is published.
