FNC leading Country branch at surf lifesaving titles
Far North Coast finished as the leading Country branch in the NSW Interbranch surf lifesaving championships at Umina Beach this weekend.
FNC finished sixth overall behind Central Coast, who won back the Championships with a convincing display in the teams events.
After being overrun by Sydney Northern Beaches in the final event of the 2006 championships, Central Coast were not to be denied home surf, regularly finishing in the top three alongside the defending champions. Going into the second and final day of competition with a 12.5 point lead, the closeness of the event was highlighted by the final winning margin of 13.5 points — Central Coast 1306.5, Sydney Northern Beaches 1293, Sydney 1254.
FNC finished with 927 points.
At the conclusion of the carnival the the 51-member NSW State team was announced to compete in the Interstate Centenary Championships at Bondi on December 1 and 2.
NSW are the defending Interstate Champions in the Junior, Senior and Overall Pointscore trophy.
