Sport and Rec to hold surf coaching course

serena.JPGNSW Sport and Recreation has teamed up with Surfing NSW to offer an accredited Level 1 Surf-Riding Coaching Course in Lennox Head.

The Surf Coaching Course will be held at Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre on the weekend of 2-3 February.

NSW Sport and Recreation spokesman James Roberts said Lennox Head has a world renowned reputation for its right point break and has been selected as one of only two regional venues for the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) throughout NSW.

“This is a great opportunity for community members interested in developing their surfing skills further or for those interested in pursuing a career within the surfing industry,” said Mr Roberts.

“NCAS-approved courses are recognised internationally as the standard for surf coaching.

“The course will cover the necessary theory components of the NCAS and the Level 1 Sports Specific requirements of Surfing Australia.

“Topics such as basic psychology, surfing injuries and prevention, physical condition, role of the coach, basic instructional methods and much more will be presented through the program.”

Pre-enrolment is essential and interested participants are encouraged to enrol early as places are limited.
