Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report

Some nice whiting and bream at the entrance around the North Wall on worms, prawns, pipis and yabbies. The odd flathead as well. Still too bumpy outside.

Beaches are starting to produce salmon and some tailor. Whiting off the southern beaches are going OK on worms.

The odd school jew on lures and bait from the walls but nothing big lately. Plenty of sharks about to spoil the fun.

I’ve been away so I don’t know much about Evans apart from the face that you’d be mad to fish the river any further upstream than about the bridge, and then only on a rising tide.

I’ve heard of a few whiting and stray flathead there along with some better catches from the walls, including bream and blackfish.

The hot bait in these conditions is dead yabbies, they smell and the fish can easily track them down in the dirty water.

Haven’t heard about the jewies up the beach but there should still be some big ones about and plenty of sharks to snip you off and take your bait.

No offshore report.
