Weekend surf report

forweb.jpg

Our beaches have copped a hammering over the past fortnight of onshore winds and rain.

The water is dirty and smelly, and there’s plenty of logs and other rubbish washed up on the beaches.

Today the swell has dropped, but it’s a messy four foot and there’s an onshore blowing.

The weekend forecast doesn’t hold much promise, so maybe it will be best to look for something else to do over the weekend.

Given the mess flowing into the ocean after the upstream flooding, it might be wise to stay out of the water until it clears up.

Meanwhile, mark January 23 in your diaries — that’s when a fund-raiser for the proposed Lennox National Surfing Reserve will be held at the Lennox Head Bowling Club.

There’ll be local surf films, raffles and auctions, and all money will go towards the dedication day for the reserve at Pat Morton Lookout, Lennox Point, on Saturday, February 16, from 11am.

NSW Minister for Lands Tony Kelly will open the reserve, and it is planned that ASP pro surfers will be in attendance.

After the speeches, the crew will adjourn to the Lennox Bowlo where no doubt there will be plenty of reminiscing.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
