Bombers to visit Ballina on Monday
A squadron of Bombers will touch down in Ballina on Monday when the Essenson Football Club begins its 2008 AFL Community Camp.
The Bombers will be in Ballina for an open training session at Fripp Oval from 5pm.
That will be followed by a coaching forum with Essendon coach Matthew Knights, pictured, and assistant coach Gary O’Donnell from 7.30pm at the Ramada Hotel.
Knights is in his first season as Essendon coach and has some mighty big coaching shoes to fill — he is replacing the legendary Kevin Sheedy.
Sheedy played 251 games for Richmond before taking on the coaching role at Essendon in 1981.
The Bombers, who will also visit local schools, will head north on Tuesday for a supporters function at Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Club from 7pm. Bookings are essential. Phone (07) 3207 7865 for more information.
On Wednesday there will be an open training session at Carrara oval from 6pm. For further information, contact AFL Queensland on (07) 3394 2433.
The Community Camp will be a lead-up to the Bombers’ NAB Cup against Brisbane at Gold Coast Stadium on Saturday, February 16.
