Pacific Highway upgrade access strategy on display

The access strategy for the upgrade of the Pacific Highway between the Tintenbar and Ewingsdale is now on display following a community consultation period.

An RTA spokesperson said finalising the access strategy was an important step in developing the concept design.

“The RTA received feedback from landowners, key stakeholders and from the community before developing the access strategy for the upgrade,” the spokesperson said

“The upgrade between Tintenbar and Ewingsdale will provide approximately 17 kilometres of dual carriageway.”

The RTA says key features of the access strategy include linking local roads to grade separated interchanges at four locations to:

Provide safer access to properties that currently have direct highway access.

Enable residents to take road trips without having to use the upgraded highway.

Provide a continuous alternative local road access between Tintenbar to Ewingsdale for school buses and motorists who do not wish to use the upgraded highway.

The four grade separated interchanges include:

Ross Lane.

Ivy Lane, a half interchange with north facing ramps only.

Bangalow Road, a half interchange with south facing ramps only.

Ewingsdale.

The RTA says the Tintenbar to Ewingsdale Strategic Access Report, January 2008 provides further details regarding the access arrangements and traffic issues relating to Bangalow.

The RTA is now finalising the concept design and the environmental assessment.

The preferred route for the Tintenbar to Ewingsdale upgrade was announced in September 2006.
