Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report

Friday, January 25th, 2008

The entire Richmond River catchment, including all headwaters, is closed to commercial and recreational fishing until further notice after massive fish kills following flooding in early January.
This closure includes the coastline and a kilometre seawards north to the easternmost point of Flat Rock and down to Moylans Lane on the beach south of Ballina.

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Conditions today are messy, with an easterly swell of about five foot being chopped up by the southerly.
The forecast for the weekend is for south-east to easterly winds.
Best spots could be the sheltered areas — you can forget about the open beaches.
Thankfully, the water continues to clear up after the recent floods.
