Sailing club calls for volunteers

The Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club 2007-2008 season is now in full swing (September-May inclusive). The rapidly expanding club is currently looking for rescue boat operators/volunteers for their regular Sunday races on the Richmond River.

Volunteers, ideally with a current boat licence but not essential, are welcome to assist in manning a 4.2 metre rescue vessel, centre console and 35hp engine.

Previous experience would be useful but full accredited training will be given to interested parties. The rescue boat operates for the safety of club members during club races weekly on Sunday’s 12pm-4pm.

The club is located adjacent to swimming pool on River Street, Ballina.

The club is also actively looking for a regular Race Tower Officer (off the water) to monitor start and finish times of vessels during racing. Previous sailing experience would be an advantage but not essential.

If you are looking for experience for this position, which would possibly interest lifesavers wanting to expand their skills, or looking to expand your social circle and to share boating/rescue skills, or just fancy something new, this could be for you.

The RRS&RC has 150 members and an active committee.

The club is family-orientated, and offers a variety of club boats and privately- owned vessels

Anybody who is interested in either position should contact Paul Morris, Race Officer, on 02 6686 0865.
