Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report
The entire Richmond River and its tributaries remain closed, along with a 1km wide strip of coastal water from the eastern point of Flat Rock to the junction of Keith Hall Lane with South Ballina Beach. The closure will be reviewed on March 7.
Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says there have been quite a few decent whiting and a few bream and flathead south around Boundary Creek with the odd fair tailor as well. A few tailor also up Seven Mile Beach at Lennox.
Yet more brisk southerly winds at Evans Head with 22 knots at 11.45am Friday. No offshore reports during the week. Bar isn’t too bad but you’ll get hammered when you get around Joggly Point.
A few whiting and bream up Airforce Beach to Broadwater and there should be some good water around the headlands for bream and jewies.
Evans River still carries a faecal coliform warning so don’t swim or wash your hands in it. A few whiting and bream around the bridge and that’s about it.
