Business encouraged to build a stronger community
Minister for Regional Development Tony Kelly has launched a new brochure developed by the Northern Rivers Regional Development Board to help the region’s businesses identify ways they can give back to the community.
Mr Kelly commended the initiative, which he says serves to support the board’s aim to help make the Northern Rivers a better place to work and live.
“I encourage companies in the Northern Rivers region to read the brochure and think about ways they can contribute to building a stronger community,” he said.
“The activities suggested in this brochure can increase the attractiveness and support the sustainability of the region, encouraging more visitors and investment.
“The simple message to business is that being a good corporate citizen is good for your business.”
Mr Kelly said the brochure provided practical, low-cost and easy-to-implement tips, advice and examples on corporate social responsibility that would benefit the local community.
“Tips range form planting trees and saving waste to seeting aside a percentage of the company’s profits to support local community events,” he said.
