Ballina to celebrate Youth Week
Next week is National Youth Week, and the Ballina Youth Interagency will celebrate with an unplugged music event.
The event will be at the BDCSA Youth Activity Centre, 32 Swift Street, Ballina, on Tuesday, April 8, from 3.30pm-6pm.
Performers will include Ballina’s The Jaywalks, Anoesis and female duo, Playford and Green. The event will be supervised by youth workers and interagency members.
Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the event, enter the three-on-three basketball comp, and have a good feed at the free BBQ, with young people receiving a Youth Week giveaway bag. Free transport home is provided by Yaxi Community Transport.
Organisers are also holding a photographic exhibition at Ballina Fair during Youth Week. Young people from the local area have been provided with disposable cameras and encouraged to take photos that depict ‘Where I slept last night’ in order to highlight the issue of young homeless people in the area. The photos will be displayed at Ballina Fair from Monday April 7 until Wednesday April 9, to coincide with National Homelessness Day, April 9.
An artwork workshop and a Body Shop pampering workshop are being run at the Wardell Community Centre on Friday April 11.
