Big week ahead for Ballina’s seniors

Seniors Week activities in Ballina next week promise to be informative — and a lot of fun!

The Rotary Club of Ballina is hosting a two-day 50s-plus expo at Ballina RSL Club on Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8, with more than 40 exhibitors.

Promising to be a lot of fun is the Mobility Scooter Derby and Dress Parade at Missingham Bridge from 10.30am.

Following track and field events for the mobile scooter brigade, Ballina’s finest dressed scooters along with their ‘pilots’ will parade along the shared pathways to Ballina RSL for the prize-giving at 2pm in the auditorium. The successful contestant of the day will be presented with an energy efficient Go Go Indoor Scooter valued at $1800.

The Expo kicks off at 10am with a full rendition of song by the Sylvia Smith Singers.

Local GP Dr Sue Page will enlighten the audience at 11.05am when she delivers the keynote address on her interpretation of ‘The Power to Live’.

Exhibitions will focus on such matters as Health, Well Being, Finance and Leisure Activities for our citizens of 50 years plus.

And, to make them feel good, Rockmans will present a 30-minute Fashion Parade each day at noon.

There also will be a karaoke competition, and all those attending have the chance to win the $1200 cash lucky door prize, courtesy Josman Financial Services.
