Music galore at Seagulls on Sunday

There will be no onfield action at Seagulls Football Club, Ballina, this Sunday, but there will be plenty of swing in the clubhouse when the Northern Rivers Conservatorium Big Band led by Ken Stubbs plays.

The band will be playing many different styles of music but there will be an emphasis on on swing.

The afternoon also highlights the more traditional jazz of the Unity Jazz band led by Loyd Jansen and featuring the talents of Davey Rankin (trombone), Frank Williams (saxophone), Warick Cleverly (guitar), Don Petersen (bass) and a special guest on drums. “That’s what we say when we’re not sure who is playing drums,” a band spokesman said.

Doug Heaton will also make an appearance as MC as well as with his band featuring Roy Ainsworth.

Sally Gwynne and friends also will perform.

Cost is $10, and the music kicks off at 2pm.
