Ballina into soccer’s Anzac Cup final
Ballina Seahorses have qualified for Football Far North Coast’s Anzac Cup final with a 3-2 win over neighbouring Lennox Head Sharks.
It was a sweet win for Ballina, who had not beaten Lennox in the top division.
Playing at home at Saunders Oval, Ballina had an early setback when the Sharks’ Paul Kirkland scored from the penalty spot, but a Troy Percival goal made it 1-all at the break.
Percival scored again with a penalty soon after half-time, and sealed the win with a Shannon Maciejewski goal.
A second goal to Kirkland near full-time set the scene for an exciting finish, but the Seahorses held on.
Ballina will play Rovers in the Cup final at Oakes Oval, Lismore, on April 25.
