Sports coaches, officials get grants
Ballina Electorate sporting coaches and officials have been awarded grants under the 2008 NSW Country Coaches and Officials Travel Scheme, Member for Ballina Don Page announced.
“I am pleased to announce five local coaches and officials received total funding of $1940 under the scheme,” Mr Page said.
The successful recipients are:
Gerard Piper of Alstonville, AFL (NSW/ACT) Commission;
Gregory Whittle of Alstonville, NSW Country Rugby Union;
Anthony Thomas of Alstonville, NSW Squash Limited;
Kenneth Malcolm of Alstonville, Swimming NSW Ltd.
“These funds are given to local coaches and officials to improve their skills by funding travel costs for education and accreditation courses,” Mr Page said.
“We have a wealth of sporting talent in the Northern Rivers and I am pleased to see a cross section of sports receiving funding.”
