I was the recipient of the wonderful bed tray..(because the trying to gets the legs even defied the coffee table idea) as described by L.C Skennars Head. All decision making would have been complicated by there being five of them to agree on all! Now in the "senior teenager" group I have become a bit of a clicker of all things that move and do not, with a camera given to me by those same five. My head holds the negative of that table as clear as the day it was given to me, but still have a little regret that I cannot show you a pic. of that gift because I do not think I even had a camera then. These days, all I can say is that old truth that every day, once you become a mum, is Mother's Day. Agree all Mums?? and do not feel the need to be plied with great parcels to tell me that my kids love me. What really pleases me these days is maybe a phone call from those who are not near and a simple flower from the garden of those who are, and can even visit. I love my children, they know that, and they love me, I know that. I rest my case with a parting wish for 365 lovely mum's days to every mum out there.

1979 ,Sunday 13th May, Mothers' Day.

A debate raged about whether my first pregnancy (due date 14th May) would result in me "making it in time" to be included as a mum.

Lots of discussion from Mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her mum regarding my shape, position etc of pregnant stomach. A visit to my dad that night was special-as the first Mothers' Day when his wife,my mum, was no longer with us.

In any case, I went into labour at 3.30am on the 14th-right on due date! My daughter was born at 7.30am and took my mother's name as her middle one.

We new parents were so excited ........as if she were a Christmas, Birthday, Mothers' Day present all in one, we named her Caroline because of clever Caroline Jones (ABC presenter) and because it reminded me of Christmas Carols.
As our family grew Mothers' day just got better.
My children were the best gifts I ever received.
