Former Ballina man honoured for police service

Former Ballina man Greg Bishop has been honoured for his service to the Queensland Police Force.
Senior Sergeant Bishop was awarded the Australian Police Medal by the Queensland Governor, Quentin Bryce (who will be the next Governor General) at a ceremony at Government House in Brisbane.
Greg’s mother, Trish Bishop, of Ballina, attended the investiture.

The family and friends of a body-boarder killed in a shark attack at Ballina earlier this week have requested that media organisations respect their privacy.

A 16-year-old Wollongbar teenager is dead after being attacked by a shark at North Wall, Ballina, this morning.

Daylight saving ends this Sunday, April 6, and the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) reminds all NSW residents to change their smoke alarm batteries when they change back their clocks.
