Ballina locals next week will join a monumental walk to raise funds for kids cancer research.

The walk is from Coolangatta to Canberra, a distance of over 1200km, and has been organised by the retired Australian submariners community.

Ballina locals, Rod and Vicki Fayle and Paul Dann are part of the walking team.

Paul is walking from Byron Bay to Ballina and Rod and Vicki from Ballina to Grafton.

The walk was organised by Tug Wilson, who passed away (cancer) on April 2.

The walkers will be overnighting in Byron Bay on Monday May 5 and in Ballina on Tuesday May 6.

In Ballina they are being assisted by the Ballina Sea Cadets, The Naval Association and the Ballina RSL.

Members of the public wishing to meet the walkers and to support them financially can do so at the RSL on Tuesday evening, or by making a donation at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank (Account name: Walk for Kids with Cancer, BSB 064 401, Account number 10512727).

Further information is available at www.walkforkidswithcancer.com or by contacting Rod Fayle on 6681 5389/0429 882 280.
