Feeling active? Try the fun run

If you’re feeling overly active this weekend, why not go for a run or a walk in The Northern Star Ballina Lions Fun-Run-Walk.

The run will be on Sunday and entries remain open until 5pm tomorrow. Check out today’s Ballina Advocate for an entry form.

The fun run is organised by the Ballina Lions Club and will start at Missingham Park at 9am.

The 5km route goes from the ampitheatre across Missingham Bridge, along North Wall then back to the ampitheatre via Compton Drive.

The 10km runners this year will head under Missingham Bridge to a turnaround point and re-complete the 5km course.

Mr Leo said the Athletics Australia accreditation would bring more runners to the event, held annually over the past two years.

Last year’s run-walk attracted more than 500 competitors and he expects that number to increase to about 700 this year.

There are walking categories, and categories for families.

A holiday for two to Lord Howe Island is the major prize.

The event is a fundraiser for Ballina Lions community projects.
