Lennox Head woman’s play to air on ABC Radio
Tune in to ABC Radio National on May 11 and you’ll hear a 30-minute radio play written by Lennox Head resident Lisa Walker, pictured.
Last year Lisa flew to Sydney to see her script ‘Baddest Backpackers’ be professionally produced into a radio play for ABC Radio National.
The results are being broadcast in the Airplay Program on Sunday, May 11 (3pm), with a repeat on Friday, May 16 (9pm).
Airplay is ABC Radio National’s weekly program of new Australian radio writing and performance, presented by Jane Ulman. For more information on Airplay, go to: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/airplay/
Lisa Walker submitted the original short story ‘Fully Sick Backpackers’ to the ABC Radio Short Story Project in 2005. It was one of 26 finalists, and was produced into a five-minute radio piece.

In March 2006, Lisa attended a Radio Drama Writing Workshop in Byron Bay, where she began to develop the short story into a radio play.
In early 2007, the ABC Radio Regional Production Fund commissioned the completed script for production into a 30-minute radio play for the Airplay program.
Lisa grew up in Fiji and Brisbane. She has worked as a cross-country ski instructor, igloo builder and reef guide and now works part-time for the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Her travel articles and short stories have appeared in magazines such as Geo Australasia and Outdoor Australia and she recently finalised a script for an animated DVD.
Lisa has been awarded three mentorships by the Northern Rivers Writers Centre and a residency at the Varuna Writers Centre.
Cameron Creswell Literary Agency is now representing her completed crime novel set on the North Coast of NSW.
