Weekend surf report

How awesome is this shot, taken by Steve Robertson (Surfing Australia)?

It’s Anthony Walsh, of Lennox Head, surfing at the menacing Teahupoo break in Tahiti this week.

Anthony just missed out on winning the trials but confirmed his reputation as one very gutsy surfer.

On the local scene, there were some good waves earlier in the week, along with the usual crowds.

Unfortunately, an overnight northerly has made the swell bumpy, although it’s still a good four foot.

The winds are forecast to be north-west to west, tending south-west to south-east over the weekend.

There still should be the odd beach break or two around.

  • Marine weather:
  • W/NW 5/10 knots, tending NE/SE 5/10 knots during the afternoon. Sea: up to 1 metre. Swell: S/SE 1.5/2 metres.
  • Outlook Saturday: Variable 5/10 knots, tending SW/SE and increasing to 15/20 knots through the day. Sea: up to 1 metres, rising to 1/2 metres later. Swell: S/SE about 1.5 metres.
  • Outlook Sunday: S/SW 10/20 knots tending S/SE.
  • Outlook Monday: Variable 5/15 knots.
