Ballina Combined Services Club to hold SES fund-raiser

The 2008 Combined Services Club charity ball on May 17 at the Ballina RSL Club will be a fundraiser for the Ballina SES unit.

Tickets cost $60 per person and proceeds will go towards the SES unit’s efforts to raise about $120,000 to buy a new truck for the road-crash rescue team.

The local team is one of the busiest in the State.

But the 1984-model Ford Cargo truck which it uses has reached an age where it’s difficult to find parts and it’s just getting old, putting its reliability into question.

The unit already has raised over $50,000 and has applied for govrenment grants to buy a new truck with a custom-built body.

You can buy a ticket to the charity ball from La Mystique in River Street, Ballina.

The black-tie event will start at 7pm.

For your money, you get a two-course dinner with wine, and you can dance the night away to music by Fossil Rock.

For more information, phone 6681 2917.

There will be a prize for the best-dressed couple.

The Combined Services Club of Ballina, made up of members of the Ballina and Ballina East Lions Clubs and the Rotary clubs of Ballina and Ballina-on-Richmond, plan to make the ball an annual event.
