Author Susan Perrow home after overseas promotional tour

susan1.JPGLennox Head author Susan Perrow has returned home after a three-month tour of Europe, the US and Canada to promote her new book, Healing Stories for Challenging Behaviour.

Published in the United Kingdom by Hawthorn Press, Susan says her book brings together the fruits of her work in story-making.

“It is richly illustrated with lively anecdotes drawn from parents and teachers who have discovered how the power of story can help resolve a range of common childhood behaviours and situations such as separation anxiety, bullying, sibling rivalry, nightmares and grieving,” she said.

Susan says the comprehensive resource offers, in 320 pages:

  • A framework for therapeutic story-writing
  • Pointers to readers to evaluate the challenging behaviour or situation and identify their desired resolution
  • Guidelines for adapting stories for different age groups and cultures
  • An extensive collection of new stories and traditional folk tales categorised by behaviour or situation  … 80 stories in total.

The Australian launch of the book will be at the Mary Ryan Bookshop in Byron Bay on the 18th July at 6pm.

Susan is running workshops on story-telling and therapeutic story-writing on June 7 and 8 at the Cape Byron Steiner School.

    Dear Susan,

Recently I have had the urge to write children stories, as a response to experiences I have had with children, and also from the process of healing my inner child. After the experience of healing something in regards to my inner child, I would hear a story in my head. I have a few short stories, that I would term theraputic. I have not showed them to anyone, and feel that they may need some work and may just be ‘seeds’ before becoming beautiful flowers. So I am wondering if you are doing some workshops this year, and or if I could send them to you for you to have a look at if you had the time? If you have the time I am also open to hear from you any suggestions or advice? I look forward to hearing from you,

    Kind regards,

    Alfira

    Dear SUSAN
After reading your book I have been able to use the stories to bring a remarkable change in the lives of different back grounds. Though I left the Waldorf School in Mbagathi, I am making use of your input both in stories and hand work.Best of wishes as you sell your book.
