Older adults invited to tke part in Active Lifestyles weekend
Older adults are invited to attend the Active Lifestyles weekend, supported by the Ballina RSL Club, at NSW Sport and Recreation’s Lake Ainsworth Centre in August.
“The weekend will allow participants to try activities they may never have experienced,” said Development Officer Debbie Grant.
“In addition to a great range of sport and recreational activities, there will be specialist speakers from various medical professions with advice about positive directions for health and wellbeing.”
Some of the activities on offer include:
- Tai Chi/Yoga
- pole walking
- tennis
- archery
- golf
- sailing and canoeing
- rock climbing
- aerobic and strength training
- early morning walks
- wellbeing and medical knowledge workshops
- Saturday night barbecue by the lake.
“The Active Lifestyles weekend is a great opportunity to experience activities that may not generally be accessible, especially for those of us who need a little extra motivation to get active,” Ms Grant said.
“An active lifestyle will help over 45s to really make the most of the prime of their lives.”
The weekend will run 15-17 AUGUST 2008 , in the idyllic location of Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre at Lennox Head in northern NSW. It costs just $240 including accommodation, all meals and activities for the weekend.
