Theo’s friends chip in after loss of house to fire

Volunteers have been working tirelessly over the past six weeks selling raffle tickets and gathering donated items in an effort to raise money for a good cause.

A special fundraiser for Theo Van Dartel and his family was held on Sunday at the Ballina RSL Bowling Club. Theo Van Dartel recently had his Alstonville home burnt to the ground.

The day commenced with a well-attended monster garage sale including a cake stall and face painting donated by Inspirational Parties and Balloons.

Ninety people took part in the friendly game of bowls, which was followed by a disco for the kids in the afternoon.

A sausage sizzle manned by the ladies and men of KSEAVVA made sure no one went hungry.

East Ballina Lions Club, Ballina RSL Men’s and Ladies Bowls Clubs, Sandflies Bowls Club, KSEAVVA, local businesses, Ballina RSL and RSL Bowling Club Staff contributed their time and effort to raise funds at assist Theo and his family.

A total of $6870.70 has been raised.

Organisers want to give a big thank you to all who volunteered and attended the day’s activities.

“Thank you to everyone who helped and came today. Your support has been overwhelming,” said Theo.
